Answered Prayers

One of my many jobs at the moment is working at a middle school. My two favorite kids at this school are 6th graders Marisa and Devin.  Lately I have felt very convicted about praying hard for opportunities to share Christ with them, or at least in some way plant a seed.  I am not skilled at evangelizing, and sadly have not had/taken many opportunities to share the gospel. I have been asking God how I would even begin that conversation with 6th graders at the short time I spend with them at snack and lunch?? How do I present the truth of the Gospel appropriately to my little 6th grade friends as our conversations span the depths of the Jonas Brothers, how strange boys are some times, and giggling about whatever and cheer practice? And I still don’t know.  But I prayed for a clear and easy way. For the Lord to use me and whatever I have at this moment.  I asked for the Lord to be obvious and intentional because I did/do not have the words.

I have often mentioned my goings to and from church in our conversations about daily life, but always without any signal of recognition or interest from either………….. until tonight. :) Devin somehow got my cell and has been texting me random hello’s and what-have-you-been-doing’s the past couple of weeks. And then tonight I received a text asking me what church I go to. She said that her family thinks they want to find a church, and are going to try Rock Harbor this Sunday.  Amen.

I know each of us has a million things to pray for each day, really important matters that deserve our attention, but if you wouldn’t mind praying a quick prayer for Devin and her family (the Gooch’s).  That the Holy Spirit would be working in their hearts and lives, that as they feel this longing in their hearts, Father, that they would know it can only be satisfied by You. I ask that this Sunday as they are putting themselves out of their comfort zones that they would feel welcomed and as they belong.  That the love of the community and church would mirror the Father’s love for each of us.  Father grab a hold of each of their hearts and claim them for your own.

God, You answer prayers. You are so good.
